The Lynx headset is an avionics headset which provides excellent audio for both intercom and radio transmissions when coupled with an intercom system. The headset comes with many features such as a built-in power source, precise volume control and noise attenuating microphone.

Designer Systems developed the hardware and firmware which includes the following features:

  • Low cost PIC18 microcontroller for automatic power on/off control, battery charge/boost control and amplifier power control.
  • Stereo headset speaker drive using low-noise operational amplifiers from incoming radio signal interface.
  • Mono boom microphone pre-amplification using low-noise operational amplifier to outgoing radio signal interface.
  • Radio audio monitoring on both headset speaker and microphone audio channels with ADC level measurement and microcontroller power timeout control.
  • 3.7V Lithium Polymer battery charge control with microcontroller voltage/current monitoring and firmware controlled voltage boost control with current limit to external headset interface and other headsets.
