A tester for Highways Agency roadside beacons

The Highways Agency Ruggedised Top Section (HARTS) handheld device is used to test Highways Agency Top section beacons in the field.
The handheld unit is battery powered and has a TFT display that provides an intuitive GUI that allows beacon LED, beacon ringer speakers and solar panel monitoring to be undertaken.

Designer Systems developed the hardware and software which includes the following features:

  • High speed Xtensa dual core processor with onboard flash memory.
  • 2.2” backlite TFT display for GUI user control and feedback.
  • Integrated DB9 female Top Section interface providing +12VDC or +3.7VDC power, solar panel voltage monitoring, piezo sounder test drive and beacon lamp test drive.
  • Two [2] undersurface tactile button control interface.
  • Integrated 3.7VDC Lithium Polymer battery powered with USB-C external power charge/power path processor.
  • Exclusively designed for DAC Limited.
